Our Solution
We have designed and produced a puzzle-based game utilising motion sensitive controllers that simulates the major steps in the cataracts operation. We used C#, XNA and Visual Studio to design the game, also utilising an open source Wii-mote
library and blender. Using the simulator, training surgeons can build transferable skills, allowing them to make more effective use of their time with mentoring surgeons. All our simulator needs in order to run is a standard windows computer with
Bluetooth capabilities and a motion sensitive controller, making it less than 1% of the cost of the current simulators.
